As the academic advisor for undergraduate students in English, Jaclyn assists students in making decisions about degree plans, class schedules, strategies for career exploration and preparation, study abroad programs, and other academic concerns. Her responsibilities also include reviewing syllabi for transfer courses in literature and creative writing, coordinating the English Honors program, and advising student organizations The Inkling Society and Freshmen in Liberal Arts Reaching Excellence (FLARE).
Jaclyn grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Garden City, Kansas. After graduating with a B.A. in English from Texas A&M in 2008, she was delighted to have the opportunity to continue her relationship with the Department of English as its first full-time academic advisor. To deepen her understanding of student development and broaden her skill set as an advisor, Jaclyn eventually decided to pursue a M.S. in Education Administration, also at Texas A&M. In her free time, Jaclyn enjoys cooking, sewing, reading anything she can get her hands on, Netflix-binging TV series (new and old), and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
