Gia is pursuing a Ph.D. in English, specializing in technical communication/rhetoric, digital humanities and book history, the latter with emphasis on the materiality of writing and publishing in the long nineteenth century. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, a Master of Arts in English from Texas A&M University and a Graduate Certificate in Book History from Texas Tech University.
Gia seeks to establish a Center for the Materiality of Writing in the English department, in which students can gain hands-on experience with how authors created their favorite literary texts. At Texas Tech, Gia received the Helen DeVitt Jones Part-time Graduate Fellowship. Her most recent peer-reviewed publication focuses on the materiality of creating accessible scholarly literary editions. Gia also works as a technical communication professional in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University.
